Chris Swan

Equine Assisted Therapist, Counsellor

Chris is a qualified counsellor specialising in Equine Assisted Therapy, he draws upon Gestalt, Sandplay therapy, Art therapy and is trauma informed.

Chris also works as a community support worker where he works with some of the community’s most vulnerable, his warm gentle nature and desire to help people from all walks of life ensures clients are held and given space to become more self-aware and self-confident.

Chris has a Diploma of Counselling and a Certificate in Sandplay therapy.

Chris has a real passion and love for horses, living his dream of working with horses and helping people is something that has stemmed from his own lived experience of trauma, anxiety and depression.

Growing up in outback Queensland as a gay person had its challenges for Chris, living through bullying and low self-esteem, his horses helped him overcome some of his most difficult times throughout his teenage years, giving him the understanding of the power of healing through horses.

Chris specialises in providing support for people living with low self esteem, anxiety and depression; women, kids or teens who are survivors of DV; teens/ kids who are being bullied; working through having absent parents; people who are grieving; people feeling mentally stuck in their life; people with relationship issues; anyone who is struggling with their sexuality or is a family member who is struggling with a family members sexuality; people with ASD 1; people interested in exploring Sandplay.

Chris will help guide you through a process of becoming in touch with your body and emotions in the present, using grounding and mindfulness techniques he will challenge and encourage you while in relationship with himself and his equine partners, discovering what feelings are hidden under your behaviours and how to better cope in life and relationship.
