Our Approach
We are passionate about what we do
At Equine Assisted Therapy Australia our mission is to empower and inspire individuals through connection. We develop and deliver high quality training to create competent and compassionate practitioners. We champion an industry of ethics, professionalism and authenticity.
Helping you to get clearer about who you are and what you want in your life is our guiding mission. We provide training, programs, and sessions that make an impact. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, because we know you are unique and your goals are exclusive and personal to you. Because we understand this, our programs and sessions can benefit all sorts of people – from all walks of life and in different stages of their journeys.
Our retreats, programs, trainings, and sessions provide you with a new and authentic way to grow and learn more about yourself. We challenge you to take responsibility for your life and to dig deep to find your answers. Our activities are designed to guide and support you in the process so that when you leave, you feel clear and empowered to create a life that you want, and you will have gained valuable tools to assist you in your journey.
Our integrative approach draws upon many modalities including horsemanship, yoga, equine assisted psychotherapy, trauma informed practice, counselling, gestalt therapy, art therapy and mindfulness.
Our approach is based on these principles:

Belonging
- A place to be
- Inclusion and equity
- Honouring country and first nations people

Curiosity
- Always learning
- All questions welcome
- Having generous assumptions and being curious

Wellbeing
- Viewing all beings as sentient
- Respecting choice and advocating for the horses and their welfare
- Honouring boundaries and encouraging self-care to support student, staff, and client wellbeing

Trauma Informed Care and Practice
- Asking, ‘What happened to you?” rather than “What’s wrong with you?”
- We follow the guiding principles of trauma informed care: safety, trust, transparency, collaboration, choice, empowerment, and respect for diversity.
